La Nuova Musica have recorded ‘Dixit Dominus’, an album of Handel and Vivaldi, due for release on Harmonia Mundi on April 8. Directed by David Bates, the disc includes a pair of contrasting settings of the Psalm 109, Dixit Dominus - Handel’s HWV232, penned in 1707 during a youthful visit to Italy, and Vivaldi’s RV807, his third setting of the Psalm, dating from the 1730s. The album also includes Vivaldi’s motet for solo voice, In furore iustissimae irae, featuring soprano Lucy Crowe.
